Why we began
We live in a world where many of us feel drawn to nature. It lifts us, inspires us and makes us feel at home. Yet in the air we breathe, the water we drink and the everyday things we rarely think about, like the sofa we sit on and the bed we sleep in, harmful chemicals have quietly become the norm.
For some, sensitivity to these toxins shows up in their health. For others, it’s an awareness of the toll on the natural world. Either way, more of us are choosing a way of life that reduces our exposure.
That simple idea is where The Organic Home Store began: healthier, more nurturing homes where we can truly rest, restore and thrive.

Dormiente has been sold in Ireland since 1999, first by Wilhelm Bodewigs, whose life’s work was devoted to healthier living environments and building biology.
Since 2024, Jimmy has carried that work forward as an authorised Dormiente retailer, with a passion for wellbeing, sustainability and thoughtful living.

Jimmy Butler
FounderJimmy combines a background in psychology and years supporting people with intellectual disabilities with a long-standing passion for ergonomic furniture and thoughtful design. His interest in alternative health and natural building led him to found The Organic Home Store, connecting people with companies that put sustainability and wellbeing first.

Dormiente has made natural mattresses and solid wood beds in Germany for decades. Their mattresses and beds are made from natural materials and are pollutant-tested, and every piece is made to order in Germany.
